PLAN HATCHED.
THE REST IS HISTORY…

In the mid 60’s, Carl and Peter hatched a plan.

The twin brothers decided to buy a small derelict
farmhouse and a piece of land at Swineshead, and built
their first hen house. The egg industry was in its
infancy at the time, but the brothers saw the potential
for building a future-ready egg business.

In the years that followed, hard work and
determination saw birdbros eggs move up the
pecking order across the local counties and
they realised that the happier the birds, the
tastier the eggs. Today, Matt and Stuart work
with key partners across the UK industry to
ensure that our long-standing position of
being a strong, quality-focused family
business is reflected in the range of eggs we
provide, including this new barn-laid range.

OUR PROGRESsIVE
FIVE-YEAR PLAN

The UK egg market has changed in recent
decades, with consumers placing greater
emphasis on understanding how their food is
produced and where it comes from.

With this understanding, 2023 marked the
beginning of our new vision to implement
a cage-free programme with plans to
completely exit enriched colony cage egg
production within the next 5 years.

We call this Vision 2028.
